The Joffrey Ballet has announced that Adam Blyde has been appointed as their inaugural Associate Artistic Director.
Joining the company in 2016, Blyde has served as Rehearsal Director for a number of productions and world premieres with Joffrey Ballet. He was recently developed and rehearsed ballets such as Yuri Possokhov’s ‘Onegin’ with San Francisco Ballet, and Cathy Marston’s ‘Atonement’ with Ballett Zurich, among others.
“Adam is an artist and leader of exceptional integrity, musicality, and kindness,” says Artistic Director Ashley Wheater MBE. “Over the past decade, he has become indispensable to the Joffrey — a respected teacher, coach, and répétiteur whose impact resonates across the organization. Adam understands this art form on the deepest level: the discipline it demands, the trust it requires, and the responsibility of guiding artists toward their fullest potential. He has the full confidence of our Company, musicians, and creative partners through his consistent leadership, knowledge of the repertory, and measure of artistic excellence he brings to every room. Quite simply, Adam is as good as it gets. I cannot think of a more trusted or capable leader for this role.”
Blyde will also help with season programming, long-term artistic strategy, and coordination with visiting choreographers and creative teams.
