On September 11, 2026, Opera Carolina will launch their 77th Season, celebrating their past while announcing new plans for their future.
The season will open with Mozart’s ‘Requiem,’ presented in partnership with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Charlotte Master Chorale, the performance will commemorate the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. Other highlights include a performance of Menotti’s ‘The Medium’ in November, featuring renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves; and January will see their third annual Gala ‘A Night to Remember,’ featuring duets and guest artists.
In developing a greater community presence, Opera Carolina has partnered with The Humane Society of Charlotte for ‘Pups & Puccini.’ Held on June 15, this event will present classic selection while raising support for animal adoption. OC has also announced several initiatives to bring opera beyond the stage and into the public eye, such as Opera Xpress, which will bring live performances to school parks and community venues; Musical Storytime, which will hold family-friendly events to introduce children to the art form; and Family Opera, which will present community concerts.
The company has recently appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor Stefano Vignati as their new General Director, and has named architect Paul E. Kardous as Chair of the Board of Directors, solidifying their commitment towards growing the company and its impact in the Charlotte region.
