On June 19, 2026, Bright Shiny Things released ’24 American Caprices’ by seven-time GRAMMY Award-nominated violinist and composer Curtis Stewart.
The album pays tribute to various artists and genres which have influenced Stewart’s own music, drawing from figures such as Dolly Parton, John Coltrane, Bob Dylan, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Nina Simone, David Bowie, Tito Puente, and more.
Performing 12 of the caprices himself, Stewart will be joined by guest violinists Tai Murray, Deborah Buck, Melissa White, Nijoma Grevious, and Rubén Rengel; seven tracks will be performed by students mentored by Stewart at The Juilliard School, Special Music School and the Perlman Music Program.
“Musical aspects of each inspiration are abstracted and imbued with challenging violin techniques emulating the sounds and styles of their origin,” says Stewart in a press release. “In the full meaning of caprice, these violin fragments dance and sing lightly from inspiration to ornamentation, both with flights of fantasy and fastidious settings of referenced material, creating playful musical dialogue around American lineage and individual perspective in Classical music.”
