Composer Lorien Testard has won The Game Awards’ ‘Best Score and Music’ for his work on ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.’ The belle epoque-inspired role-playing game went on to win in eight other categories for a record-breaking nine awards.
Released in April, ‘Clair Obscur’ is the first entry from nascent video game company Sandfall Interactive. The game was widely praised among fans for its artistic and musical direction, and it seems the critics agree as well. Drawing from sources and compositional techniques ranging from opera to heavy metal, the soundtrack features vocalists such as Alice Duport-Percier, who co-composed a number of the tracks, and Victor Borba.
First joining the project after being discovered on SoundCloud, Testard has also received the World Soundtrack Award for Game Music. The soundtrack has also had an acclaimed release on vinyl, with next year’s European concert tour selling out in a matter of minutes.
