The Joan W. And Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance has announced the 20th anniversary of its ‘Harris Theater Presents’ season.
Titled ‘Artistic Alchemy,’ the season blends numerous styles in a celebration of Chicago artistry. Among the events are:
Dancing with Bob: Rauschenberg, Brown, and Cunningham Onstage
The Trisha Brown Dance Company will present an evening in tribute to Robert Rauschenberg’s collaborations with choreographer Merce Cunningham. The program will include Brown’s ‘Set and Reset,’ as well as Cunningham’s ‘Travelouge.’
Performance Date: September 17, 2026.
Mahler X Notorious B.I.G. X 2Pac
Composer and conductor Steve Hackman will lead the Chicago debut of his newest work which blends classical with modern music, featuring Mahler’s ‘Resurrection Symphony’ along with ‘Hypnotize’ and ‘California Love.’
Performance Date: October 24, 2026.
Sol Invictus
Compagnie Herve Koubi, known for mixing hip-hop dance with martial arts and more, will present the city premiere of this work inspired by Ancient Rome.
Performance Date: November 14, 2026.
White Space
Choreographer Kyle Abraham’s new work blends contemporary with classical dance , with original music from composers Jason Moran and Nico Muhly.
Performance Date: February 4, 2027.
