The Joffrey Ballet is set to open their 2026-27 season with the Chicago premiere of John Neumeier’s ballet ‘Liliom.’
The work is adapted from Ferenc Molnar’s 1909 play of the same name, which would go on to become the inspiration for the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical ‘Carousel.’ Composer Michael Legrand composed a score which blends classical with jazz influences from the Great Depression setting.
Running from September 17 – 27, 2026, the production marks the Neumeier’s return after last working with the company on their 2023 ‘The Little Mermaid.’
Casting and further details will be announced in the coming weeks.
